LATE BLOG lol case study
This case study is about to turn into a little rant to Stephanie. Now I would never disrespect her as her teaching methods ,because she is the only teacher so far here that has personally helped me through my class, but maybe this will give her a little insight. I have a little problem with our peer revision process. My concern is that many people don’t care what happens with the revision. I would never say any names and I would just hope that anyone that has slacked in the review process can see this problem. In my opinion if someone has no motive to help the writer than the person cant give a very good review. A little bit of initiative should befall the writer to find another person to review but maybe a solution is to weed out the people that have no desire to do well in the revision. I hope someone in the class can identify with me on this.
Cultural Opportunity:Restaurant
This cultural opportunity is for a foreign or culturally different restaurant, for mine I decided to go to Flat Top. Flat top may not seem like a very authentic place because it is more main stream with their fancy chains of places and the fact that many people go there on a weekly or monthly basis. They are actually a Mongolian grill but they decided to put there business out there as a stir-fry buffet of sorts. For anyone who hasn’t been there basically you just take a bowl and grab some rice veggies and meat then they cook it for you. Seems simple but the many choices of each of these items and your choice of many different sauces. It really is a different experience from the regular restaurant but I’m not too sure where the authenticity comes from I don’t know if they also do the buffet thing but I know they use stir fry as a known meal and some of the color themes are really firey. Plus they give you chop sticks
Cultural Opportunity: Play/Musical
This cultural opportunity puts me at eastlight theatre in east Peoria to watch Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I have seen this musical/play about five times because I have a cousin that has been in many of them and a few friends that have also been in the cast. The play is a family fun play with all of the costumes lights music and humor. It is based in biblical times about a father with 12 children and he favored the one Joseph. Joseph had special powers where he could read dreams. The eleven brothers were extremely jealous and sent him away and told the father he had been killed. Only for the eleven brothers to find out that Joseph turned to be prince of the land and needed his help during a starvation period. The play was exciting as always with many great local talents filling out the cast. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed the play very much especially all of the colors and lights that accompanied the singing.
Cultural Opportunity: Concert
For this cultural opportunity I am focusing on a Concert I went to in Northern Illinois. I went to Mad Maggie’s music parlor in Elgin, Illinois. Performing there was Haste the Day, Story of the Year, and The Devil Wears Prada was the headlining act. We drove just about three hours just to see Haste the Day because they are my favorite band and they are pretty much the greatest thing to happen ever. We got to the venue about a half hour before they went on stage and fought our way to the center of it. When they started to play the crowd Erupted and bodies flew everywhere but I didn’t jump into the pit because I was entranced by the band onstage. After their show ended I walked outside to go put something in the car and the entire band was just standing outside so I got to stand there and talk to them, at which point I texted Cole and told him to get his ass outside. After we talked with them for awhile we went back inside to catch the last of Story of the Year’s set and get a good spot for the much anticipated The Devil Wears Prada. As TDWP show went on I was spotted at the stage, the moshpits, anywhere that action was and getting myself all beat up and sweaty. It was an amazing show and a very tired ride home.

I KNOW A GHOST,
And when doubted his truth reveals incredible vengeance.
Vanity is a sepulcher,
Do as you please, shame will follow.
Languages rot and insects lose interest,
Mountains of plastic: Melting away.
As long as these struggles are aimless,
We will all be standing still.
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliché;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears.
Collect the leaves,
Count them,
Name them,
Study each and every single one of them.
As long as these struggles are aimless,
We will all be standing still.
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliché;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears.
All mistakes can be marked by borders,
All of love can be traced to a maker.
It seems as if what is most important,
Isn't noticed when forgotten.
Do as you please, shame will follow.
The sun and the moon,
You'll always take them for granted.
What's delicate is lost.
As the selfish forgot what is sacred,
The humble forget themselves.
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliché;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears

Condemned,
My regret is not writing more for you, lord.
As this ocean comes to be deeper our vessel becomes less stable,
Look to the sky.
Encourage the elements of god,
Rather than the jars that contain them.
If only the ingredients of man were of such elements.
If only.
With great horror, I admit that we all live off the lust and misfortune of others.
All lives off the lust and misfortune of others,
This is vision, not contradiction.
I see greed in the face of a priest,
And deterioration in the walls of cathedrals.
What was right, now wrong,
Casts a cold reflection on glory,
Look to the sky.
Chorus of Angels-Haste the Day
Chorus of Angels
Destroy my silence
That haunts me
That claims me
While darkness walks beside me
I saw the Angels sing along to wake up the beautiful sleeping world
Their voices will rise to test the strength of man
Wake up the beautiful sleeping world
Wake up
wake up now, wake up now (ambient)
We will see the fire
We will see The skies will open up
The sky will open
The clouds will burn red and our sins will forget us
Our sins will forget us
And time will not shake us
Our hearts are made of gold
Made of gold
These walls won't over take us
These walls won't over take us
Over take us

Wake up, lay the foundations, the foundations of the earth, of the earth
The Last Goodbye-Haste the Day
This is the last of all the last times
My dear, no more
Where's the comfort?, where's the end?
This is the last time
This is the last goodbye
You say that you're not sure
But I think you feel the same
Over and over we try to work this out
All this time all I wanted was you
All I want is you
Mad Man-Haste the Day
You said it yourself. To convalesce from empty sorrow, someone had to squeal. To drive to the bottom. You said I know. I know it's not your fault. Like wire around your bones you would never numb. I take it I'm a mad man, but I would never squeal. I never said it was no good.
The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given. Paintings will sleep on the floor. Build walls of lonely dreams as beauty fades. I can't take this anymore.
Lock yourself up like a bird in a cage. You sing but no one ever listens. How much were you paid to sell out the mad man? Like a scientist or a master of design. I knew exactly what I was doing. And I heard of your disease, and shots of penicillin barely kept you alive.
The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given. Paintings will sleep on the floor. Build walls of lonely dreams as beauty fades. I can't take this anymore.
I am the clone. I dwell in silence. (4x)

I eat stickers all the time!
One of my favorite things to watch on TV is UFC. Some may call it barbaric and violent, sure its violent but the technicality it takes is amazing. One of the best fighters in the sport is Georges St. Pierre or as he is more well known GSP. GSP recently announced that he would try to make that transition to the sport of olympic wrestling and compete with Canada at the next olympics. I think that this would be a goood idea especially if he ends up competing in the next set of games. It will be good for him to show that the guys who compete in the UFC aren't just beating the crap out of each other, but it takes some planning and a lot of physical talent. Granted he won't be able to throw punches or anything but the ground and grappling game will be fairly similar at the games. This would also open up the opportunuty for other fighters to wrestle for their countries like my favorite fighter BJ Penn for Brazil.

Stop making your life decisions off of old scooby doo episodes.
So I'm in my car on my way to work listening to my favorite talk show on XM radio. The Jason Ellis Show. This is a radio show that pretty much talks about some of the dirtiest stuff I could ever think of, and lots of stuff you just cant converse about on public radio. They had a topic of conversation regarding the recent job that Mark McGwire recieved as hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals. As many of you hopefully know, Mark was one of the main suspected athletes in the ginormous baseball steroid scandal. Mainly because Jose Canseco admitted to injecting McGwire when they both played for Oakland. So do you think that it is right for someone who has used performance enhancing drugs to be on a mlb team, mentoring youn players? He is the one that rookies will turn to when they start thier journey in the bigs. I think that it is wrong, he hit 70 homeruns back in the day and wants more recognition for it. Personally I think that there should be a giant effing asterisk by his name in the record books along with Barry Bonds, who I have more dislike for. I think that Bud Selig should step in, and make an exxecutive decision to help keep our young sluggers on a more influential and natural track to superstardom.

Illiteracy....What does that word even mean?
Alright so check this out I would totally think its awesome if everyone could post a response about this, if you choose not to do the whole 5 sentence thingy that’s totally cool but I wanna hear some peoples opinions on this. So me and my friend tyler were drivin around in my car and talkin bout music which is what we always do. And he poses the question “If you could pick two bands that defined rock music and what it is about, Who woulds you pick?” Suprising enough out of everyband in the world we selected the same two bands. The Foo Fighters, and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Now they are not our favorite bands but we believe that they define the genre so I pose the question to the rest of you. Pick the genre, pick your two favorite bands, and determine whether they are there for the music or for the life style. So I throw out the Genre of Punk Rock, what band would you ask someone to listen to if they have never heard of punk rock, if I were to choose newer bands, I would say Green Day and Rise Against, two bands that have gone out there and proven that they are here for the fans and for the music. Now the Sex Pistols would be a great example to give out there but they are a fairly “older band” and there are plenty of others to choose from, now everyone else throw out a genre and pick your musicians, you might learn something. Weird.

This slot defeats the purpose. I can see your eyes! We might as well get married
So I believe that My ability to type has grown so much more since I started playing games on my computer. When playing first person shooters, a person needs to be able to locate keys on their keyboards while using their eyes and their mouse in order to fire at opposing players. It has made my ability to type and write so much quicker on the computer and makes it much easier to get my work done. Another thing is that I would consider myself to be somewhat of a techno-geek when it comes to computers and electronics, I think that this helps because I can use more tools that the computer give me to help enhance my mad ass writing skillz. Overall it has really just sped up the production of my writing and the use of my thesaurus has increased my vocabulary quite a bit. I mean watch this…..I do not know where family doctors acquired illegibly perplexing handwriting nevertheless, extraordinary pharmaceutical intellectuality counterbalancing indecipherability, transcendentalizes intercommunications incomprehensibleness". I mean I probably look ridiculously smart after that but in all reality I just used my tekkie skillz to copy and paste that little number in there. Sounds interesting but you shouldn’t copy and paste that’s plagiarism, true story.

I'm Finna get my blog on
So I’m sittin here trying to figure out what to write about. All I can think about is music, how awesome it is to just chill out and listen to music. I think that it is great that you can take just about any mood you’re in and find multiple songs to fit that exact mood. When I am mellow and gloomy I tend to listen to alternative rock, something that has something that may have some heavy melodic tunes but all around isn’t too hardcore. When I am pissed off I listen to thrash metal, death metal, anything that I can get my hands on that screams at my ears. I end up in this mood a lot so it has one of two effects on me. Either I just listen and start to forget my troubles or it amps up my temper. I really feel that music, can express my feelings or thoughts better than I could. The people that know me best could probably determine my mood by the band that I’m listening to. I also like to listen to music when I work on homework, play video games, while I work, and when I’m playing soccer. There is definitely a way to tell the way music effects its listeners by going to concerts. Like when you go to a medal show you see people jumping and running in a frantic manner. These are called mosh pits. Or if you were to go to a country show I assume you’ll see I slightly less violent crowd. It is a good way to determine how the band’s music affects its listeners

Am I peeing?... Wake me up if i'm peeing
Ahh…. Another night of staying up late in order to get my papers finished, I love being able to sit down at my house and just write write write. Well it seems as if writing is beginning to get a little bit easier, weird right? I never thought that me taking the initiative to get that higher education would actually force me to learn something new so quickly. See I was the type of person that pretty much skated their way through high school. I never did my homework and got by because I would just study for my tests and do well on those. Well it seems like I won’t be able to do that anymore. I wait until the last minute in order to write my papers, which is almost exhilarating after I get done arguing myself into starting my assignment. I find myself reading a little bit more in my spare time opposed to playing Xbox. Even though I may not be reading the New York Times best selling books, I read stuff that interests me. I could recommend some books to anyone out there interested, Motley Crue the dirt is just a fascinating piece on the rise, fall, and rise again of the band. It takes you through each member’s drug problems and heir rehab experiences and talks about their partying days. A book that pretty much goes along with that is The heroin Diaries which is a personal Diary written by Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx. These books are crazy awesome because it’s all true stories and stuff like that and the stories just amaze me. Rock stars know how to live it up yo.

Somewhere over the Rainbow.......A Lesson in Tolerance
This week Peoria hosted its first annual gay ride event. THAT’S RIGHT! Right here in Central Illinois. Kinda hard to believe? Sucks to suck. I’m glad that there might be a sliver of hope for this city I call home. Peoria is such a culturally diverse region and sometimes it’s hard to tell. If you stop to think about it, sure you can pick a town in Central IL and stereotype the people that live there, but think about a lack of publicized diversity. I’m sure that there is a lot of stuff that I don’t see just because I’m pretty busy and I don’t literally search for everything new and exciting. As I was reading up on the topic at Pjstar.com, I noticed quite a few forum comments that bashed the event. This upset me quite a bit. Now, I am not gay, but I do support the whole “gay pride” movement because I believe people should be able to live the way they want to. To narrow that statement down a little bit, People should live the way they choose as long as they aren’t causing bodily harm or damage to themselves or any other persons. That seems like a fair and logical way to accept a different culture into our lives. The worst part is that people were bashing the event because “It’s not Christian”. STOP and think about this whole thing please hear my point and feel free to respond in your own views. (I hoped this topic would get me quite a few comments)1. From what I remember about hearing in church, is that Jesus/God accepts everyone no matter who they are or what life choices they make. 2. There is a separation of church and state (pertaining to gay marriage) 3. If you believe in fate, that means that god made homosexuals to live their life that particular way, so why would he oppose their choices? I’m sure that there are plenty of other things that I could come up with but that could be saved for a future blog. My overall point is that gays don’t bash the straights for their life choice, return the favor and shut your mouth if you are not educated on the subject. If you truly have weighed out the options and read up on the views and you are still against the topic, I respect that and I believe that you are allowed to state your opinion, BUT IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER.

Because I don't conform to society. There is no Title(kinda)
To me writing is not my main expression of thought or feelings. I have other ways that I cope with expression. The main reason I write is because I’m in school and I am forced to. I suppose I still end up writing somewhat whether it be writing up status on social networking sites or texting my way through English class. I mean not doing that. I am literally texting someone at any given time in the day. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m pretty new to my completely touch screen phone I could text people from my phone as it sits in my pocket. But as far as anything lengthy and serious it doesn’t happen much. Every once in awhile I have to write a lengthy e-mail or something but nothing that would get critiqued or something. Writing or trying to put my thoughts into words seems like a complete chore unless I am writing about something that I am passionate about. And it normally takes something pretty controversial or something that I take EXTREME interest in for the passion to exists. I normally have no problem stating my opinion on subjects and arguing my piece about them. But I also see myself as someone who may not agree with everyone’s opinion but I try to see things from other people’s perspective and accept that they are entitled to their own opinion. I hope that whenever anyone reads my blogs this semester they understand that I don’t mean to offend or put down anyone, I would never attack someone without being attacked myself. I dislike drama; I’m very laid back, if you want to be my friend……sounds good to meJ

Introduction lett3r
Dear Ms. Stephanie,
Hello my name is Adam Pitzer. I am eighteen years young and born March 12, 1991 right here in Peoria. I live here in Peoria with my dad and my step-mom. I also stay with my mom and step-dad from time to time in Bartonville. I have four siblings that include one older step-brother, a younger step-brother and step-sister, and a younger blood brother. I have a plethora of extracurricular activities that include many sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, football, and tennis. I absolutely love listening to music and going to concerts. The main genre of music that I listen to is heavy metal but it pretty much branches into all forms of rock music. My favorite bands include Haste the Day, Killswitch Engage, and Motley Crue. I also enjoy going on road trips with my best buddy Cole. My favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan simply because it is pure genius. I am attending ICC in order to start my career as a police officer. Hopefully after one year here at ICC I can transfer to either Illinois State or Western Illinois. I also play Xbox, go bowling, hang out with my friends, and text constantly in my spare time. For someone who doesn’t watch that much TV I religiously watch the shows It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Rescue Me. For this school year I plan to obtain a high GPA this year in order to make it easier for me to transfer out and it will also make it much easier to jump start my career as an officer of the law. I’d like to be the type of police officer that proves to people that the law is not the “bad guys”, that they are there “to protect and serve” as it is proudly displayed on their chests. I also hope to meet lots of new people and keep my old friends and to just make these next few years the best of my life. I always am up for a good time and I would describe myself as someone who is very laid back. I hope this gives you a little insight to who I am as a person.
Sincerely,
Adam Pitzer

The NFL is big on forgiveness, but what about snoopy and scrappy-doo?
With football season starting up I believe one of the most controversial topics is the case of former Atlanta falcons quarterback Michael Vick. As many of you know, Vick was indicted on dog fighting charges in 2007, after an investigation on his house turned up a complete dog fighting ring. Several dogs were found on his property in bad condition and what seemed to be a small shed or warehouse where the fights were allegedly held. After serving time in a federal prison Vick was released to house arrest this summer. The NFL lifted their indefinite suspension on Michael which allows him to now play football again. Shortly after his suspension was lifted he was signed to be the backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Many protestors are outraged at the fact that the Eagles would sign him to play. This brings up the debate whether he should have been reinstated to the NFL. The NFL has a policy that if an athlete gets in trouble with the law, that athlete will also face a suspension from the commissioner Roger Goodell. Mike served his prison time and served his NFL suspension and is also now a spokesperson for organizations against animal fighting, which insinuates that he is doing everything possible to make up for his previous actions. The NFL has stated that they expect Michael to be a true success story on players making a full rehabilitation in the league. So I believe it is wrong for people to put down the Eagles organization and the NFL because of their forgiveness towards Vick. I think that anyone who would have a confrontation with the law and the public idea that Vick has would want a chance at redemption. So the question is not whether if Michael was wrong in the past, it’s has he learned from his mistakes. A few years ago he was one of the most explosive players in the league, and I hope that he proves to everyone that he can concentrate on football, and not so much what’s off the field.
