Illiteracy....What does that word even mean?
Alright so check this out I would totally think its awesome if everyone could post a response about this, if you choose not to do the whole 5 sentence thingy that’s totally cool but I wanna hear some peoples opinions on this. So me and my friend tyler were drivin around in my car and talkin bout music which is what we always do. And he poses the question “If you could pick two bands that defined rock music and what it is about, Who woulds you pick?” Suprising enough out of everyband in the world we selected the same two bands. The Foo Fighters, and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Now they are not our favorite bands but we believe that they define the genre so I pose the question to the rest of you. Pick the genre, pick your two favorite bands, and determine whether they are there for the music or for the life style. So I throw out the Genre of Punk Rock, what band would you ask someone to listen to if they have never heard of punk rock, if I were to choose newer bands, I would say Green Day and Rise Against, two bands that have gone out there and proven that they are here for the fans and for the music. Now the Sex Pistols would be a great example to give out there but they are a fairly “older band” and there are plenty of others to choose from, now everyone else throw out a genre and pick your musicians, you might learn something. Weird.

OK, if this is going to count as an opinion blog, all contributors have to give some valid reasons (evidence!) behind their choices. C'mon help Adam out here.
ReplyDeleteWhat about THE CLASH???!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Nirvana? You're putting Foo Fighters over Nirvana? That's interesting. So you think Dave Grohl is offering something new and something more beyond his experience in Nirvana? Don't get me wrong. I'm a FF superfan (saw them live, in about the 10th row), but I'm surprised to hear you rate their importance over Nirvana. I'm not a fan of RHCP, but I can see your point.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that I was really going for bands that were still sround, and i kinda get picky with genres. I would put nirvana in the grunge/alternative genre more and dave grohl is probably one my favorite musicians
ReplyDeleteOk I don't know what a foo fighter is but everyone knows rock and roll acheived perfection in 1974 its a scientific fact. I will blanket answer your question with all of rock and roll. The Doors, because when you listen to there music you feel everything music was intended to make listeners feel, a truly mind expanding exprience when you listen to the doors. (ever watch the doors movie amazing even though i think oliver stone is a druged up commie, Pound this Hugo Chaves). Band I feel has the most complete sound on the other hand(drums, bass, guitar, vocals) is hands down Rush. soak up in that limelight and bask in my comments warming goodness.
